Microsoft’s Commitment to Enhancing Windows 11
During the recent IFA 2026 event in Berlin, Germany, Microsoft reaffirmed its dedication to refining the Windows experience by actively engaging with user feedback. Key areas of focus include boot times, the efficiency of Windows Hello, and overall optimizations for systems equipped with 8 GB of RAM. Mark Linton, Corporate Vice President of Windows & Devices at Microsoft, highlighted the company’s strategic decisions that will significantly influence Windows 11 users, with many enhancements slated for upcoming builds.
Mark Linton, MicrosoftWe’ve made significant gains on things like boot time, Windows Hello responsiveness… We’re continuing to improve on the fundamentals… We’re listening to customer feedback, continuously improving Windows, and you’ll see those updates as Windows just gets better as the updates come through… We’re optimizing so that 8 gig of RAM runs great on machines as well.
In a bid to elevate the performance of Windows 11, Microsoft is rolling out the Low Latency Profile, which is set to extend its benefits to a broader range of applications. This innovative feature, initially designed for Microsoft’s own “in-box” applications, temporarily boosts the CPU to its peak frequency for a brief period of 1-3 seconds. The result is a marked improvement in application launch times, particularly for users with less powerful hardware.
Testing has shown that launching Microsoft applications, such as Edge and Outlook, can be up to 40% faster, enhancing user experience significantly. Furthermore, in response to the rising popularity of Apple’s MacBook Neo, which also operates on 8 GB of RAM, Microsoft is committed to ensuring that Windows 11 runs seamlessly on entry-level devices, thereby broadening accessibility for users with varying hardware capabilities.
