In mid-September 2026, the default Android phone application, “Phone by Google,” unveiled an innovative SIM selection menu on its outgoing call screen. This enhancement is particularly beneficial for users with dual SIM setups, allowing them to effortlessly choose which phone number to utilize when making a call.
Previously, users faced the inconvenience of designating a “Primary SIM” within the Android settings or navigating through a pop-up menu to select their desired number during a call. The new feature streamlines this process, enabling users to specify their preferred SIM directly from the outgoing call screen.
This new SIM switching feature is available in app version v229 and later, marking a significant step forward in user experience for Android phone users who rely on multiple SIM cards.
