Google Wallet Enhances User Experience with New Connected App Features
The latest iteration of the Gemini Connected App has introduced an innovative feature: Google Wallet, designed to provide users with tailored information and insights based on their stored data. This integration aims to streamline the management of various digital assets, from loyalty cards to travel documents.
Once activated, users can effortlessly retrieve essential information from their passes. For instance, prompts such as:
- “Find the boarding pass for my flight to Chicago.”
- “Show me my airline loyalty numbers.”
These functionalities are just the tip of the iceberg. The app also offers a range of capabilities that enhance financial awareness:
- Insights derived from transaction data linked through services like Plaid.
- Summaries of expense activity paired with budgeting tips.
- Overviews of available rewards and exclusive offers associated with cards and passes stored in Google Wallet.
The integration with Plaid, which has its roots in the Google Pay app, is currently exclusive to Google Wallet users in the United States. This allows users to pose questions such as, “How much did I spend on groceries last month?” providing a clearer picture of their financial habits.
However, it’s important to note the limitations of the Google Wallet Connected App. Users will not be able to:
- Execute transactions using payment methods stored in Google Wallet.
- Modify or remove linked financial accounts.
Once the feature is rolled out to an account, users will find Google Wallet available in the prompt box and listed among Connected Apps for easy activation. Presently, this integration is limited to personal Google Accounts in the U.S., and its widespread rollout is still in progress.
