Recent findings from McAfee’s market research reveal that a significant 68% of consumers primarily associate the company with its antivirus software. While this is indeed a core offering, McAfee’s portfolio extends far beyond, encompassing services such as scam detection and dark web monitoring. However, awareness of these additional products remains limited among the consumer base.
Stephanie Fried, Chief Marketing Officer at McAfee, shared insights with ADWEEK, stating, “We’ve been around for almost 40 years and we win on trust in every part of our brand tracker. The downside is that we’re known for what we’ve done from a heritage perspective.” This acknowledgment of their strong legacy underscores the challenge the company faces in evolving consumer perceptions.
In response to this challenge, McAfee is embarking on a rebranding initiative that officially launches today, September 29. This strategic move aims to broaden consumer awareness of their diverse offerings and reinforce their position in the cybersecurity landscape.
