Samsung is now rolling out Android 17 to these older Galaxy devices in the US

Samsung has officially commenced the rollout of its One UI 9 update for the Galaxy S24 series and the Z Fold/Flip 6, following a successful launch of the update a month prior. This latest iteration of the user interface is now available for devices that did not originally ship with it, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra.

Expanding Availability

The rollout encompasses all three models of the Galaxy S24, as well as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, with users able to find the update in the settings app as a standard download option. Currently, the update is accessible in South Korea and the United States, with expectations for broader availability in additional regions over the coming days.

Notably, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 were the pioneers in receiving One UI 9, a shift in Samsung’s update schedule that was implemented last year. Just a month ago, the Galaxy S26 also gained access to this new interface, which is based on Android 17. The update has gradually made its way through Samsung’s Galaxy S lineup, and with the recent introduction of One UI 9 for the Galaxy S24 and Z Fold 6, it is anticipated that the Galaxy S25 and Z Fold 5 will soon follow suit, although they have yet to receive the update.

Highlights of One UI 9

One UI 9 brings several exciting features designed to enhance user experience, including:

  • My FanCam: This feature offers automatic video tracking and reframing of a subject, providing a seamless filming experience.
  • Generative and Editable Cards on Now Brief: Users can enjoy more dynamic content presentation.
  • Warranty and Care: Detailed information is now conveniently located within the Settings menu.
  • Expanded Galaxy AI features: This includes tools like Now Nudge, Creative Studio, Interpreter, Document Scan, and Voice Recorder.
  • Enhanced Privacy & Security: New features such as Security Brief, Privacy Alerts, and Scam Detection are included to bolster user safety.

For those who have yet to receive the update, patience is advised as it should be rolling out to more users shortly. However, individuals with older devices may experience a longer wait time before the update becomes available to them.
