The best Enshrouded base locations for picturesque vistas or strategic strongholds

In the vibrant realm of Embervale, the allure of real estate is undeniable, particularly when it comes to base locations in Enshrouded. While every option has its merits, my personal preference leans towards the picturesque waterfront properties. With an abundance of fast travel points scattered throughout the world, my choices often prioritize aesthetics over strategic advantages. However, I do find value in the occasional mine or elevated terrain that facilitates a graceful glider launch.

After dedicating countless hours to exploring and marking my favorite spots across Embervale, I’ve compiled a list of standout locations that I believe deserve attention.

Fort Kelvin

🏘️ Pre-built town for renovating
Nestled on the northern border of Springlands, Fort Kelvin is an expansive abandoned town located near Revelwood and just west of the Pillars of Creation. With its central square, underground tunnels, and a pre-built tower, it presents a delightful renovation project for those willing to invest time and effort.

Pondside Ruins

🌳 Empty lot for building
This charming pond, located just west of Fort Kelvin, has become a personal favorite of mine. I often find myself constructing something here in every world I explore. The island in the middle of the water is particularly enchanting, and I enjoy enhancing the pier and expanding it. However, caution is advised when building near the path, as enemy patrols can be unpredictable.

Western Waterfront

🌳 Empty lot for building
Another waterfront gem, this location is almost too close to the nearby Shroud, yet its charm is undeniable. While the uneven terrain may deter some builders, I encourage embracing the challenge and letting creativity flow.

Mountainside Pond

🌳 Empty lot for building
For those who don’t mind a bit of deforestation, this flat space offers more potential than it may seem at first glance. Located near the Hollowed Halls, it also provides easy access to a flint mine just to the north.

Glenwood’s End Neighboring Waterfall

🌳 Empty lot for building
While I’m not particularly fond of building in Revelwood due to its dense foliage, I can’t resist the charm of this solitary waterfall beside Glenwood’s End. It embodies the essence of an RPG waterfall, complete with a hidden alcove waiting to be discovered.

Blue Goblet Tavern

🏠 Pre-built tavern for renovating
For those hesitant about tackling an entire town, the Blue Goblet Tavern offers a more manageable renovation project. Its hilltop location ensures ample sunlight, and the proximity to abundant ore and clay resources adds to its appeal.

Top of the Pillars of Creation

🌳 Empty lot for building
Even if I’m not constructing anything here, I always place a Flame Altar atop one of the two pillars for convenient fast travel around southern Embervale. The northern pillar is more suitable for building, while the southern one boasts nearby copper mines, making it a tempting choice.

🌳 Empty lot for building
This charming mountainside nook, nestled between two vast stretches of Shroud, may lack abundant resources, but it features a limestone deposit that is easily accessible via a handy hookshot shortcut.

Shorewatch

🏘️ Pre-built town for renovating
While many towns in the Kindlewastes can feel overwhelming, Shorewatch strikes a balance with its manageable size. Located in a region that lacks fast travel points, it serves as a practical base, complete with a pre-built tower that can be expanded for enhanced glider jumps.

Hermit Lodgings

🏠 Pre-built cottage for renovating
In the serene Albaneve Summits, a quaint lakeside cabin serves as a charming alternative to the more somber Hermit Lodgings. I find solace in imagining it belonged to the characters from a poignant journal, a remnant of happier times.

Dragondream Lake – Riverreach

🏘️ Pre-built town for renovating
Despite its considerable size, Riverreach captivates with its sprawling layout in the northernmost corner of Dragondream Lake, cascading over the area’s largest waterfall. With three main levels and intricate underground cells, this monumental renovation project is undeniably tempting, even if it may be more space than one truly needs.

Dragondream Lake – Driftwood Wake

🏘️ Pre-built town for renovating
If Riverreach’s dark wood and stone aesthetic doesn’t appeal, Driftwood Wake offers a more inviting atmosphere across the lake. Closer to the water and featuring its own waterfall against the western mountainside, this smaller town is practical and charming, making it a worthy contender for your next project.
