While it does not serve as a comprehensive antivirus solution, this feature mimics several functionalities typical of antivirus programs. It scans downloaded files for potential threats, assesses existing applications for vulnerabilities, and blocks access to malicious websites. Additionally, it effectively curtails intrusive ads and trackers while identifying double extensions, which can help prevent malware from infiltrating devices.
NordVPN has earned recognition for its commitment to security, being the first VPN to receive the AV-Comparatives’ anti-phishing certification. However, it is important to note that Threat Protection Pro does not encompass essential antivirus capabilities such as full system scans, malware quarantine and removal, webcam protection, or automatic updates.

Norton Secure VPN: A Mixed Bag
While Norton is primarily recognized for its antivirus offerings, it has also ventured into the realm of VPNs with its Norton Secure VPN. However, our hands-on testing revealed some shortcomings. Although user-friendly, we encountered issues such as IPv6 leaks, excessive personal data collection, and the implications of its US jurisdiction, which may raise concerns for privacy-conscious users.
In comparison to leading VPN options, Norton Secure VPN does not measure up. We noted sluggish speeds, a limited server network, and the absence of Linux support as significant drawbacks. On a positive note, Norton is actively working on enhancements, including support for Google TV, Apple TV streaming devices, and smart TVs. Nevertheless, for those seeking a VPN with superior privacy features, broader app support, and faster performance, alternatives may offer better value for money.
