Amid a challenging box office landscape, Fandango has unveiled promising news ahead of CinemaCon. The upcoming film adaptation of the beloved video game, A Minecraft Movie, produced by Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures, has emerged as the top pre-seller for PG-rated tickets in 2025.
Strong Anticipation and Target Demographics
Set to hit theaters on April 4, the film is projected to generate over million in its opening weekend. Tracking service Quorum indicates that the film’s appeal is particularly strong among female audiences under 35, who account for 62% of awareness, and male audiences in the same age bracket, at 66%. These demographics are poised to be the most enthusiastic ticket buyers.
According to Fandango, A Minecraft Movie, featuring stars Jason Momoa, Jack Black, and Danielle Brooks, has outperformed all other PG-rated films slated for release in 2025 in terms of advance ticket sales. It has surpassed notable titles such as Dog Man, Paddington in Peru, and Snow White.
Record-Breaking Pre-Sales
This film, based on the immensely popular game from Mojang Studios, ranks among the top three video game adaptations for ticket pre-sales in Fandango’s history at this stage in the sales cycle. It joins the ranks of celebrated films like The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which opened with 6.3 million, and Five Nights at Freddy’s, which garnered million.
Directed by Jared Hess, A Minecraft Movie features a screenplay crafted by a talented team including Chris Bowman, Hubbel Palmer, Neil Widener, Gavin James, and Chris Galleta.
