Following the mixed reception of the Zombies mode in MW3 earlier this year, Treyarch has once again demonstrated its prowess with the much-anticipated Black Ops 7 Zombies. Building on the success of Black Ops 6, the studio is set to deliver an experience that combines nostalgia with innovation, drawing inspiration from beloved maps like Tranzit while continuing the Dark Aether narrative.
Every main Black Ops 7 Zombies map
The main, round-based Zombies maps announced so far are:
Ashes of the Damned
While players have yet to experience Ashes of the Damned firsthand, trailers and beta gameplay provide tantalizing glimpses of what lies ahead. This expansive map rivals the iconic Tranzit from Black Ops 2, known for its innovative moving bus system. In Ashes of the Damned, players will encounter TEDD, the beloved bus driver from Tranzit, now guiding them in a new mode of transport: Ol’ Tessie, a vintage pickup truck designed to navigate the sprawling landscape.
TEDD Tasks
Similar to SAM Tasks from Black Ops 6, TEDD Task consoles scattered throughout the map offer random challenges that yield valuable rewards upon completion, adding an extra layer of engagement to the gameplay.
Special monsters
As players progress through rounds, they will face not only zombies but also formidable Elite monsters like Ravagers and Zursa. Ravagers, akin to the Vermin from BO6, are quick and low to the ground, making them a challenge to eliminate. Zursa, the Elite Monster, presents an even greater threat with its speed and long-range damage capabilities, creating an intense atmosphere as players fend off swarming ‘Zombees’.
Saw Blade Traps
Among the new features, the Saw Blade traps—affectionately dubbed ‘baby rave’—are a standout addition. These traps, which require Essence to activate, provide a thrilling way to dispatch hordes of zombies. Drawing in nearby foes with a pulsating house track, the traps unleash a whirlwind of destruction, allowing players a moment to revel in the chaos before the cooldown period kicks in.
Astra Malorum (Season One)
In a recent developer vlog, Treyarch’s design director Kevin Drew praised Astra Malorum as “one of the coolest maps” the team has crafted. This steampunk-style observatory, set to debut in Season 1, promises to immerse players in a world where the stars align with the sinister themes of Zombies. While details remain scarce, speculation suggests that cosmic elements may play a significant role in quests and puzzles.
All BO7 Zombies survival maps
These survival maps offer a more condensed experience, focusing solely on enduring waves of enemies without the usual quest lines. Each survival map mirrors its standard mode counterpart, ensuring that players have access to essential items and mechanics.
Vandorn Farm
The inaugural Zombies survival map, Vandorn Farm, presents a compact yet intense challenge. Players will navigate through tight spaces, unlocking doors to access critical resources like the Der Wunderfizz machine and the Mystery Box. The small scale of the map necessitates quick thinking and strategy, especially when powering up the essential machines.
Exit 115 (Season One)
While details about Exit 115 remain limited, this survival map is set in a classic neon-lit diner, promising a unique aesthetic that will be further unveiled upon its release in Season 1.
Zarya Cosmodrome (Season One, midseason)
Another survival map, Zarya Cosmodrome, will focus on a spaceship poised for launch. Although specifics about gameplay mechanics are still under wraps, anticipation builds as players await its introduction in the midseason update.
Dead Ops Arcade 4 arenas
Dead Ops Arcade serves as a map in its own right, featuring a variety of levels or ‘arenas.’ While the complete list of arenas remains undisclosed, early glimpses reveal a mix of environments, including archaeological sites and possibly even Nuketown. Players can choose between a classic top-down perspective or a new first-person view, engaging in battles against the Silverback family and waves of zombies.
As the launch of Black Ops 7 approaches, excitement continues to mount. With a blend of returning favorites and fresh innovations, Treyarch is poised to deliver an unforgettable Zombies experience that will captivate both veterans and newcomers alike.
