The Creaking, also referred to as the Weeping Angels, has made its debut in the Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.4, introduced with the Tricky Trials update. This unique mob stands out as the first asymmetrical entity in the game, presenting an eerie visage that sets it apart from other creatures. Notably, the Creaking possesses the ability to stalk players and remains impervious to all forms of damage. The only method to vanquish this foe involves locating and destroying its heart.
Why is the Creaking called the Weeping Angels?
The Creaking draws inspiration from the Weeping Angels, a fictional entity from the beloved Doctor Who series. Much like their television counterparts, these statue-like beings in Minecraft only advance when players divert their gaze. A mere blink can allow them to close the distance with alarming speed.
In a clever nod to this concept, Mojang designed the Creaking to follow players once they look away. This mob is immune to damage, compelling players to maintain their focus to avoid being pursued. However, the developers have incorporated a vulnerability: the Creaking is tethered to a Creaking Heart, which randomly appears within trees in the Pale Garden biome. By locating and destroying this heart, players can ultimately defeat the Creaking.
Where to find the Creaking in Minecraft
The Creaking can be found in the Pale Garden biome, where it spawns alongside its heart. In its idle state, the Creaking remains dormant unless a player gazes at it from within a 12-block radius. Notably, these mobs only emerge during nighttime or thunderstorms, providing a sense of safety for daytime exploration in the Pale Garden biome.
How to defeat the Creaking in Minecraft
To defeat the Creaking, players must first locate its heart hidden within the trees of the Pale Garden. Given the dense foliage, this task can prove challenging. However, there is a straightforward method to reveal its location.
If a player or their pet mob engages the Creaking, it will leave behind an orange trail leading directly to its heart. Following this trail will guide players to the specific tree concealing the heart. Once the heart is destroyed, the Creaking will disintegrate. It’s important to note that this method does not apply when spawning a Creaking using a spawn egg in Creative Mode.
As the Creaking typically appears at night or during thunderstorms, it is advisable to avoid exploring the Pale Garden biome during these conditions. If an encounter is unavoidable, players can escape by distancing themselves at least 32 blocks from the Creaking’s heart, causing it to cease its pursuit.
The Creaking loot drops
While players will not receive any loot directly from the Creaking, destroying its heart yields resin clumps. This valuable item can be utilized to craft decorative blocks. Additionally, if players attack the Creaking multiple times, it will leave resin clumps near its heart, offering a practical way to farm this crafting material.
Alternatively, players can employ a tool with Silk Touch to mine the heart without destroying it. This allows them to collect the heart intact for decorative purposes. However, caution is advised when placing it between two pale oak logs, as this could inadvertently spawn another Creaking. For those looking to efficiently farm resin clumps, relocating the heart to a more suitable area may be a strategic move.
