The collaboration between Alpine and Microsoft marks a significant advancement in educational innovation through the launch of a Minecraft Education world, specifically designed to highlight the Race into STEM initiative. This ambitious project aims to engage young individuals with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education while promoting gender diversity within the motorsports industry. By harnessing the global appeal of Minecraft, particularly among younger audiences, Alpine and Microsoft aspire to inspire a new generation to explore potential careers in these fields.

Global Outreach and Interactive Learning

The Race into STEM program, a collaborative effort between the Entone team and Microsoft, seeks to provide educational content alongside organized events aimed primarily at youth. Events have already taken place in major cities worldwide, including Mexico City, London, Melbourne, and various locations in France, making this a substantial international initiative. These events are thoughtfully crafted to engage and inspire young people, encouraging them to consider STEM-related career paths within the motorsports industry.

A standout feature of this initiative is the newly developed Minecraft Education world, which features a Minecraft-cubed recreation of Alpine’s Enstone factory. This virtual environment serves as an interactive educational tool, allowing players to explore the intricacies of modern Formula One car development and racing. Participants can delve into the mechanics of the factory, gaining insights into the production and technological aspects that drive the machinery on track. Within this digital realm, team members like Dalia Ramos Guerra, Head of Build and Test, and Gemma Lang, Chief Financial Officer, share their backgrounds and roles, offering real-world perspectives on essential automotive and technological concepts.

This venture extends beyond digital platforms, actively engaging participants through interactive games. For example, players can simulate testing a car in a virtual wind tunnel or execute a simulated pit stop, enhancing their understanding of the motorsport industry.

The Race into STEM initiative has attracted international attention, with over 100 students participating in related events. The digital platform has also seen impressive engagement, with more than 80,000 visits from users across 99 different countries.

At the core of this collaboration is the partnership between BWT Alpine Formula One Team and Microsoft, part of a broader effort to promote STEM education and encourage gender diversity within motorsports. Alpine, a member of the Renault Group, boasts a rich history dating back to its founding by Jean Rédélé in 1955. Today, the Alpine Business Unit is dedicated to producing innovative and exclusive sports cars. Microsoft’s role as the official partner in this project is pivotal, providing the technological support necessary to create and maintain this Minecraft Education world.

Additionally, FIA Girls on Track UK has played a crucial role, curating curriculum content available on the Race into STEM digital platform. Their involvement ensures that the content is both inspiring and educational, specifically designed to motivate young women to explore careers in motorsport and STEM fields—an essential endeavor for the future. Local schools have also benefited from this initiative; for instance, Middle Barton Primary School was invited to Alpine’s Enstone facility, offering students an exclusive tour and invaluable firsthand learning experiences.
