Austin Lee Releases “Sculpture Park” PC Game

Brooklyn-based artist Austin Lee has carved a niche for himself in the art world with his surreal abstract paintings, which evoke the whimsical essence of Gumby navigating through a hallucinatory N64 video game. Lee’s innovative approach incorporates augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) as his canvas, allowing him to create bizarre environments that not only reflect the ongoing narrative of art history but also explore the dual nature of technology’s impact on our daily lives.

Exploring New Dimensions

In an exciting development for fans and art enthusiasts alike, Lee has announced the launch of “Sculpture Park,” a new online video game that invites players to immerse themselves in his uncanny worlds. This digital platform serves as a comprehensive showcase of his artistic vision, where vibrant spires, relaxed figures, and blooming tulips populate a chromatic landscape that users can traverse at their leisure.

Reflecting on the current state of human interaction, Lee expressed his concerns about our reliance on mobile devices. “I think when we look back to our current moment it will feel so awkward doing everything through a tiny phone,” he shared with Hypeart. He views the smartphone as a gateway to a broader digital experience, yet he questions its efficacy as a lasting interface for meaningful interaction. “What scares me is how much advertising and propaganda will be indistinguishable from our lived experiences,” he added, highlighting the complexities of navigating a technology-driven world.

At present, “Sculpture Park” is exclusively available for Windows users, but Lee has confirmed that a version for Mac is in the works, promising to expand access to his imaginative creations.
