In an exciting development for the Australian gaming landscape, a group of seasoned industry professionals has launched a new publishing venture named Midnighters. This initiative is spearheaded by co-directors Jacob Vincent, Zea Wolfe, Jair McBain, and Aaron Oak, each bringing a wealth of experience from their previous roles in the gaming sector.
Founders with Diverse Expertise
Jacob Vincent has honed his skills at notable companies such as Funselektor and Wymac Gaming Solutions. Zea Wolfe, a veteran of the acclaimed studio Massive Monster, known for the hit game Cult of the Lamb, has also contributed her talents to Bohemia and RocketWerkz. Jair McBain’s background includes valuable stints at Wymac, Free, and Dinosaur Polo Club, while Aaron Oak has gathered experience from Good Shepherd, Funselektor, and Big Fan Games.
Midnighters is poised to provide a range of publishing and production support services tailored to the unique needs of game developers. Vincent articulated the vision behind the venture, stating, “We created Midnighters because, especially in recent years, we have found that many developers require a partner that not only helps them ship games but also assists them in developing their titles and broader business sustainably, keeping the current industry climate in mind.”
Wolfe echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the need for a more adaptive approach to publishing. “The typical publishing model doesn’t always meet the needs of independent developers. With our background as artists, designers, and engineers ourselves, we aim to offer a tailored approach that supports developers in doing what they do best. We are driven by a deep understanding of what it feels like to be in their shoes.”
With its foundation built on empathy and expertise, Midnighters is set to carve out a niche in the competitive gaming industry, focusing on fostering sustainable growth for developers while navigating the complexities of game production and publishing.
