The gaming landscape experienced a notable shift last week as Battlefield 6 emerged as the highest-grossing title on Steam, following its much-anticipated release on October 10th. The latest installment in DICE’s flagship franchise captivated players, achieving a remarkable peak of over 747,000 concurrent users. This surge in popularity marks a significant comeback for the series, especially in light of the challenges faced during the launch of Battlefield 2042.
Steam’s Top Performers
In the wake of Battlefield 6’s success, Counter-Strike 2 slipped one position to secure the second spot on the charts. Meanwhile, EA Sports FC 26 climbed two places to claim third, showcasing the enduring appeal of sports titles. Valve’s Steam Deck hardware experienced a minor setback, dropping to fourth, alongside Bandai Namco’s Digimon Story Time Stranger, which also fell in rankings.
New entries made their mark as well. Little Nightmares 3 debuted impressively at sixth place, following its release on October 9th. This installment is particularly noteworthy as it breaks from tradition, being developed by Supermassive rather than the franchise’s original creator, Tarsier Studios.
Additionally, MMO Blue Protocol: Star Resonance made its entrance at seventh, also launching on October 9th. The indie sensation Megabonk saw a decline, dropping two positions to eighth. Dota 2 experienced a slight dip, falling to ninth, while Dead by Daylight made a commendable leap, rising five spots to round out the top ten.
