In a remarkable ascent, the newly-launched action RPG Path of Exile 2 has claimed the top position on Steam, marking a significant achievement for Grinding Gear Games. The title, which recently entered Early Access, surged seven spots to become the highest-grossing game on the platform last week. Prior to its official launch, Path of Exile 2 had already made waves in the charts, buoyed by the sale of supporter packs that generated considerable interest among gamers.
Steam’s Shifting Landscape
As Path of Exile 2 ascends, other titles have experienced shifts in their standings. Counter-Strike 2 and the Steam Deck, both from Valve, have slipped to second and third places, respectively. Meanwhile, Marvel Rivals, a hero-shooter from NetEase that bears no resemblance to Overwatch, has made a notable debut at fourth place.
In the fifth position, PUBG: Battlegrounds has seen a slight decline, dropping two spots. Following closely is Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which has made an impressive entry into the charts at sixth after its release on December 9th. Throne and Liberty has re-entered the Top Ten at seventh, thanks to a winter event that has reignited player interest.
Notably, Euro Truck Simulator 2 has experienced a remarkable surge, climbing 40 places to secure the eighth spot, largely attributed to a substantial 75 percent price reduction. On the other hand, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has dropped from fifth to ninth, while Dota 2 rounds out the top ten, maintaining its presence in the competitive gaming landscape.
