New Features and Fixes in Cities: Skylines 2 Patch
The latest patch for Cities: Skylines 2 brings a host of enhancements aimed at improving the gaming experience. Among the most notable additions are the introduction of actual quays and piers, eliminating the need for players to creatively piece together their shorelines like a jigsaw puzzle. As highlighted in a recent blog post, the developers have acknowledged the innovative yet challenging methods players employed using cut-and-fill roads to create makeshift quays.
“We’ve seen how you have used the cut-and-fill roads to create makeshift quays in your cities, but we also know how challenging they can be to build,” the post explains. The new quays are designed to automatically detect even the slightest changes in elevation, allowing for the creation of retaining walls on the lower side, thus simplifying the construction process.
Players will have the option to choose from three different quay sizes. The narrow option caters exclusively to pedestrians, while the medium and wide options accommodate both pedestrians and vehicles to varying extents.
Additionally, the anticipated Bridges and Ports expansion has faced further delays. The developers emphasized the importance of addressing cargo transportation issues within the base game before the expansion’s release. “Since cargo transportation is part of the Bridges and Ports gameplay, it was important to us that we also looked at the base game and fixed as many issues related to the flow of goods as we could,” the blog post continues.
The patch also includes a variety of fixes aimed at enhancing gameplay:
- Trucks will no longer visit the Cargo Harbour once deactivated after completing their current trip.
- Addressed the excessive number of taxis and visitors arriving at small parks.
- Resolved the issue of cargo ships overlapping when arriving at a deactivated Cargo Harbour.
- Fixed the display of cargo amounts in the Cargo Train Route Selected Info Panel for stations utilizing building upgrades.
- Corrected an issue where trucks with trailers sometimes did not deduct the correct amount of resources from the target storage when loading cargo.
While the Bridges and Ports expansion may not arrive until later this year, the ongoing updates and improvements reflect the developers’ commitment to enhancing the overall gaming experience.
