Epic Games to Bring Doki Doki Literature Club Back to Android
Epic Games is set to announce the return of Serenity Forge’s Doki Doki Literature Club to Android devices later today, according to sources.
The cult visual novel will be revealed as an Epic Games Store Android-exclusive, following its removal from Google’s Play Store earlier this year due to sensitive themes.
It is understood that Epic has been working closely with Serenity Forge to bring the game back to Android devices exclusively through the Epic Games Store.
While a placeholder product page for Doki Doki Literature Club is already live on the Epic Games Store, Android players can currently only wishlist the title and not download it. The game is rated for 18+ players and comes with a warning that it is “not suitable for those who are easily disturbed.”
Developer Serenity Forge had previously stated that they were working to resolve the issue with Google and explore alternative distribution methods for Android devices.
Doki Doki Literature Club remains available on other digital storefronts such as Apple’s App Store, Nintendo’s eShop, the PlayStation Store, and Steam, but is still absent from the Google Play Store.
Despite its initial appearance as a romance-themed visual novel, Doki Doki Literature Club delves into horror and explores mental health issues and self-harm as the story progresses.
The game is labeled as a psychological horror and carries an 18+ rating on platforms where it is currently available, with warnings about its disturbing content.
Official confirmation from Epic and Serenity Forge is pending, as neither party has responded to inquiries at the time of publication.
