Escape from Tarkov director says the launch week’s wobbles were ‘actual stress testing not only of our servers but also our mind and nerves’

On November 15, Escape From Tarkov made its long-awaited debut on Steam, marking the end of an extensive eight-year beta phase for the acclaimed extraction shooter. However, the launch was not without its challenges. Players quickly encountered login issues as the surge in demand overwhelmed the servers, prompting developer Battlestate Games to address the situation head-on.

In a candid acknowledgment of the difficulties, the company faced a wave of player frustration, leading to a notable review bombing from those unable to access the game. Nikita Buyanov, the director and COO of Battlestate, took to X to share his thoughts on the tumultuous week. “What a week,” he remarked. “This week was actual stress testing not only of our servers but also our mind and nerves for sure. But seeing you enjoy the game makes us feel better.”

Community Response

Despite the initial hiccups, the community’s enthusiasm remains palpable. Players have taken to social media, sharing their experiences and rallying around the game. Among the trending phrases are playful tags like SCAVYBOI and the cheeky ITSADRILL, reflecting the camaraderie and humor that often emerge in gaming communities.

As Battlestate navigates these early challenges, the focus now shifts to stabilizing the server experience and ensuring that players can fully immerse themselves in the world of Tarkov. The journey from beta to full release has been a long one, and while the road may be bumpy at the outset, the dedication of both the developers and the player base suggests a promising future ahead.
