Fans of the charming farming simulation, Fields of Mistria, are in for an exciting treat this coming Monday. The highly anticipated third early access update is set to launch at 12:00 PM EST on July 21, bringing with it a significant enhancement to the game’s romance system, along with the ability to select a best friend alongside your special someone.
Romance Update Unveiled
While the developers have opted against naming their updates, this one could easily be dubbed the Romance Update. It expands the maximum heart level for NPCs from six to eight, enriching the gameplay experience with new heart and dialogue events tailored for this elevated approval meter. Additionally, players can now engage in a dating mechanic, which remains shrouded in mystery—likely involving cutscenes or quests that mirror the heart event unlocks.
Notably, the eight-heart events will feature distinct paths for “Romance” and “Best Friend,” catering to players who wish to deepen their connections with non-romanceable characters like Olric or Dozy.
Beyond the romantic enhancements, the update promises a wealth of new content for players who enjoy collecting items. Anticipate the introduction of new museum sets and rewards, along with fresh cosmetic drops from newly added monsters. Adventurers may also encounter new faces lurking in the mines, as the game expands its roster of creatures.
For those feeling constrained by the costs of house expansions, this update will alleviate some of that burden. It introduces an additional home upgrade, complete with new furniture and decor options, larger storage chests, and even a greenhouse. A much-needed refresh of the storage chest user interface is also on the horizon, potentially featuring a “deposit similar” button for added convenience.
As if that weren’t enough, players can look forward to two new unlockable vendors at the Saturday Market, an increased maximum town renown level, enhanced skill levels, new skill perks, and the introduction of a mysterious new festival.
If you haven’t yet explored the enchanting world of Fields of Mistria, now is an opportune moment to dive in. The game has quickly gained a devoted following, even surpassing the beloved Stardew Valley for many, thanks to its nostalgic art style, captivating music, and a diverse cast of NPCs. The engaging lore, steeped in magic and archaeology, further enriches the experience, making the July update an ideal reason to either return to the game or embark on your first adventure.
