Ghost Town, a standout title in the virtual reality gaming landscape this year, has just unveiled a demo on Steam in anticipation of its forthcoming PC VR launch. Originally released on Quest in April, this captivating puzzle adventure from Fireproof Games, the creators behind The Room VR: A Dark Matter, transports players to the 1980s. In the role of Edith Penrose, a witch-turned-ghost hunter and exorcist, players embark on a quest to unravel the dark mystery surrounding her brother’s disappearance.
Exciting Developments Ahead
As excitement builds, the newly launched PC VR demo is now available, coinciding with the upcoming Steam Next Fest, which will also showcase Puzzling Places. This strategic move allows players to experience a taste of the game before its full release.
While the initial announcement confirmed that Ghost Town would also be making its way to PlayStation VR2 and Steam, Fireproof Games has only recently provided a tentative release window for these platforms, slated for 2025. The developers have hinted at a “full game available soon,” although it remains uncertain whether this applies solely to Steam.
In a recent review, Ghost Town received high accolades, earning a remarkable 4.5 out of 5 stars. Critics praised the game as “an utterly engrossing supernatural VR adventure,” highlighting its impressive level of interactivity, stunning visuals on Quest 3, and a compelling narrative intertwined with intuitive puzzles.
“It’s not a stretch to say that Ghost Town is one of the best VR games so far this year. Fireproof Games has delivered a worthy spiritual successor to The Room VR that employs a similarly strong level of VR interactivity, backed up by great visuals on Quest 3, a thoroughly engrossing supernatural narrative and intuitive puzzles.”
Currently available on Quest, Ghost Town is poised to expand its reach to Steam and PlayStation VR2 later this year, further solidifying its place in the pantheon of exceptional VR experiences.
