Jack Black, Jason Momoa, ‘Minecraft Movie’ co-stars talk bringing video game to the big screen – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

In a delightful twist for fans of the iconic video game, the much-anticipated “A Minecraft Movie” merges the realms of reality and the blocky universe, promising an exhilarating journey for viewers. The film features a star-studded cast, including the dynamic duo of Jack Black and Jason Momoa, who bring their characters to life in a vibrant adventure.

Behind the Scenes with the Stars

Jack Black, who voices the character Steve, warmly invites audiences into the Overworld, setting the stage for a thrilling escapade. His enthusiasm is palpable as he explains the creative process behind the film: “You place these elements in different patterns and … kaboom!” This playful spirit is echoed throughout the film, where characters must craft weapons to navigate their challenges.

Outside of their cinematic roles, Black and Momoa showcase their creative chemistry through music. Their discussions reveal a shared appreciation for nature’s sounds, with Momoa expressing his admiration for whale calls. “I think whale sounds are pretty beautiful,” he remarks, to which Black enthusiastically adds, “Dude, whale sounds are amazing. I like rain. I love hearing rain on the roof.” Their whimsical idea of merging these sounds into a unique instrument, dubbed the “Awuba,” highlights their playful camaraderie.

Exploring New Zealand

The film was shot against the breathtaking backdrop of New Zealand, and the cast took full advantage of their stunning surroundings. Black reminisces about their adventures, mentioning a visit to Hobbiton, the iconic set from “The Lord of the Rings.” “It was fun to just explore New Zealand, too,” he shares, inviting curiosity about the lush landscapes. Emma Myers, who plays Natalie, echoes this sentiment, noting her time was filled with hiking and swimming when not on set.

As the cast reflects on their experiences, Sebastian Hansen adds, “I didn’t get to go a lot out, but I think that, when we did after, like, finish shooting, I did get to go down to Wellington and all of that. It was very beautiful.” The enchanting scenery undoubtedly adds depth to the film’s visual narrative.

Creative Culinary Concepts

Amidst the adventure, the film also introduces quirky concepts, such as the idea of “chicken lava.” Danielle Brooks humorously contemplates the implications of such a dish, stating, “I would not want to taste that chicken. I really think it does taste like lava. I feel like it would burn your mouth.” Her laughter at Black’s musical performance related to “chicken lava” showcases the film’s lighthearted tone.
