Lighthouse Games lands additional funding from Tencent

UK-based developer Lighthouse Games has received another round of funding from Tencent, the renowned Chinese tech and entertainment powerhouse. While the exact amount of this investment remains undisclosed, the studio has expressed that it will significantly accelerate the development of its inaugural title.

Strengthening Foundations

Founded in 2023 by Gavin Raeburn, a key figure behind the acclaimed Forza Horizon series at Playground Games, Lighthouse Games has already made waves in the industry. This latest financial boost follows an earlier investment from Tencent in the same year, underscoring a growing partnership between the two entities.

Raeburn shared his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “Tencent’s Venture Lab has been a fantastic partner, and we are incredibly grateful for their continued support as we grow both our game and our studio.” He emphasized that this new funding not only reflects confidence in their ongoing project but also in the studio’s capabilities and long-term vision, particularly during a period marked by significant shifts in the gaming landscape.

With this additional capital, Lighthouse Games aims to bolster its operations in Leamington Spa, allowing the team to explore innovative and exciting creative avenues for their debut title within the driving genre.

Juno Shin, Vice General Manager of Tencent’s Venture Lab, echoed Raeburn’s sentiments, stating, “We have tremendous confidence in the talent and vision of Lighthouse Games. Gavin Raeburn and his team bring unparalleled experience and a proven track record in the driving genre. We’re proud to support a studio with such strong foundations and bold creative vision.”
