Hexworks Announces Sequel for Soulslike Game Lords of the Fallen
Hexworks’ popular but challenging game Lords of the Fallen is set to receive a sequel, much to the excitement of fans. The game’s unique Umbral mechanic, allowing players to shift between worlds, set it apart from other similar titles despite some performance issues.
The sequel, known as Lords of the Fallen 2 but referred to as “Project 3” in the agreement between CI Games and Epic Games, will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store for PC distribution. A trademark application hints that the game may be titled Death of the Fallen, a name that many find more fitting than the numerical sequel title.
While Epic Games Store has yet to turn a profit, the exclusive deals with developers and publishers, including CI Games, offer a smaller revenue cut compared to other platforms like Valve’s Steam. Despite this, the potential for increased exposure and interest in the game upon its eventual release on Steam and other platforms may outweigh any initial losses.
For fans eagerly awaiting the game’s release on Steam, the wait may be longer than expected, possibly extending into 2027. However, the anticipation and excitement surrounding the game’s eventual availability on multiple platforms may make the wait worthwhile for many players.
