Minecraft is getting a new biome and The Creaking, a creepy mob that only moves when you look away

Frequent Updates on the Horizon for Minecraft

Mojang has announced a shift in its update strategy for Minecraft, opting for smaller, more frequent updates rather than the traditional major release each summer. During the recent Minecraft Live stream, the company unveiled the upcoming Bravery And Bundles update, while also teasing another update set to follow in the coming months—one that promises a touch of the eerie.

This yet-to-be-named update will introduce players to The Pale Garden, a new biome characterized by its haunting grey trees and draping moss. By day, this tranquil setting appears serene, but as night falls, it transforms into a realm inhabited by a new mob known as the Creaking.

The Creaking are intriguing tree-like entities that seamlessly blend into their surroundings, making them a challenge to spot. When players engage with them, they won’t sustain any damage. Instead, they will be directed towards a unique block nestled high in the canopy, referred to as the Creaking Heart. This heart serves as the control center for the Creaking, and players must destroy it to overcome the mob. However, there’s a twist: the Creaking will advance toward players whenever they divert their gaze.

Chopping down the trees in The Pale Garden rewards players with a new pale wood set for crafting, while the hanging moss can be utilized for creating a creeping carpet. While these additions are certainly appealing, the real allure lies in the horror elements reminiscent of Doctor Who’s weeping angels. The Warden, another formidable mob that emerges from the depths when players make too much noise, has already proven to be a source of thrilling encounters in Minecraft. The introduction of the Creaking promises to enhance this chilling aspect of gameplay.

Players can expect to see the Creaking and The Pale Garden making their way into Minecraft’s various beta builds in the near future.
