On February 25, 2026, in a heartwarming display of creativity and national pride, players of Planet Brunei Reborn (PBR), the longest-running Minecraft server in Brunei Darussalam, embarked on a digital homage to the nation’s National Day. This initiative, which began in mid-January, encouraged participants to select and reconstruct significant Bruneian landmarks within the game’s Survival-SMP environment, transforming each build into a personal tribute to the country’s rich heritage.
Celebrating Heritage Through Gaming
Players were not only tasked with architectural accuracy but were also invited to share their personal connections to the landmarks they chose. This unique blend of creativity and storytelling turned each construction into a narrative of national significance. As a token of appreciation for their efforts, contributors received in-game currency and ranks, further enhancing their gaming experience.
Among the remarkable creations was the Menara Cendera Kenangan in Kuala Belait, meticulously crafted by player Danialhandsome. He expressed the emotional weight of his project, stating, “The Menara Cendera Kenangan is not just a landmark seen from afar, but a monument to memory. I visited the real tower with my grandparents long ago. Time has passed, and they are no longer with me, but the feeling of standing there together has never faded.” His rendition captured the essence of the tower, complete with its distinctive copper-topped spire and purple dome.
Another notable endeavor was led by Sub7PewDiePie12, who, along with teammates HerbsXShurbs, Owolettes, Jian, and others, undertook the ambitious task of recreating Brunei International Airport in Bandar Seri Begawan. This collaborative project showcased detailed exterior architecture, beautifully landscaped grounds, and intricate interiors, including check-in counters and departure lounges. Sub7PewDiePie12 shared his motivation, saying, “I built this airport in Minecraft to show appreciation for Brunei aviation in my own way.”
The National Day initiative exemplifies PBR’s commitment to fostering community engagement through creative expression. By merging gaming with cultural appreciation, the server has evolved into a vibrant space for players to celebrate Brunei’s landmarks, history, and identity.
Since its relaunch in 2022, Planet Brunei Reborn has attracted over 2,000 registered players, hosting regular community events that connect Minecraft enthusiasts across Brunei and Southeast Asia. This digital platform not only serves as a gaming environment but also as a cultural hub, where the spirit of Brunei can be experienced and celebrated in innovative ways.
