Peak has sold 10m copies

In a remarkable feat for the indie gaming sector, the hit title Peak has achieved a significant milestone, selling approximately ten million copies to date. This impressive figure comes from the latest insights provided by Rhys Elliott of Aliena Analytics, who noted that the game experienced a surge of 1.7 million copies sold in just the past week, primarily driven by a substantial 38 percent discount on the Steam platform.

Sales Surge and Revenue Growth

As of last week, Peak had reached a total of 9.7 million units sold, generating over million in revenue. Notably, it was the top-selling game on Steam for the week, and according to the platform’s charts, it ranked as the third highest-grossing title during that period. Since its launch in June, Peak has captivated players and carved out a prominent place in the gaming market.

Elliott highlighted that Peak is now the second indie game to surpass the ten million sales mark, following in the footsteps of REPO, which has achieved 16.8 million units sold to date. He pointed out that the sales momentum for Peak had been gradually declining each week after its initial launch. However, the introduction of the price cut eight weeks post-launch revitalized its sales trajectory.

During the weekend following the discount, Peak saw an astonishing spike in sales, with over 550,000 copies sold—267,000 on Saturday and 293,000 on Sunday alone. This surge can be attributed not only to the price reduction but also to the simultaneous launch of the Mesa Update by Aggro Crab and Landfall, which re-engaged legacy players with new biomes and achievements.

The combination of these factors led to Peak achieving its highest concurrent player count ever on Sunday, reaching 171,000 concurrent users (CCUs). Additionally, the game recorded its highest daily active users (DAUs) on the same day, surpassing 1.3 million players. This remarkable performance underscores the potential for indie games to thrive in a competitive market, driven by strategic pricing and engaging content updates.
