Fellow Traveller and Made Up Games have recently unveiled their latest project, Pine: A Story of Loss, which is now accessible on various platforms including PC, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
This unique title is designed to provide players with an emotional and narrative-driven adventure, focusing on the life of a grieving woodworker as he navigates through a tranquil forest. The storyline evolves as he is confronted with memories of a beloved individual who is no longer with him.
The game was developed by Made Up Games, a company established by Tom Booth, a professional illustrator and children’s book author known for his work with Dreamworks and Nickelodeon, along with programmer Najati Imam. Initially considering various formats such as short novels and illustrations, the duo ultimately decided on creating a short interactive video game to convey their tale. The narrative draws from Booth’s personal encounters with grief, drawing inspiration from his original illustrations of the woodworker that form the basis for the game’s silent storytelling.
While Pine: A Story of Loss delves into themes of grief and sadness, it also incorporates moments of optimism and beauty, offering players a deeply personal experience that may resonate differently with each individual. The creators acknowledge that the game’s subject matter may not be appealing to everyone, but they aspire to provide a meaningful journey for those who are intrigued.
