The game will be available on Windows PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2, with Game Pass support. A trailer hinted at new challenges involving Sculk blocks and the Deep Dark biome, and a QR code in the trailer led to a secret video with the term "spicewood." Valve has announced the release of the Steam Controller, set to launch on May 4, 2026. The controller is designed to work with anything running Steam but does not support other gaming platforms or launchers. It requires the Steam client to be running for full functionality, including the use of both analog sticks. The controller can operate without the Steam client for basic trackpad and keyboard operations, but features like the Steam on-screen keyboard are only accessible when the client is open. Non-Steam games must be launched through Steam to be played with the controller. The Steam Controller does not natively support console devices such as Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo Switch. While there are tools to add non-Steam games to a Steam library, they do not provide Steam Input support. Community initiatives may emerge to extend support for the new controller.

The Nintendo GameCube is experiencing a resurgence, particularly with the availability of GameCube classics for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, including Pokémon XD: Gales of Darkness. A creative individual has introduced a legally distinct game from Minecraft for the GameCube, referred to as "Cube game on GameCube," which requires a modded GameCube and the Swiss homebrew tool to play. This game offers a block-based sandbox experience similar to Minecraft, which predates the original Minecraft release by a decade. Players can modify the game to resemble Minecraft, but must provide their own assets. Additionally, the port is compatible with the Dolphin emulator on PC, which has seen enhancements, and can also run on the Nintendo Switch. The gaming community has recently seen an increase in the availability of GameCube titles on PC and Switch, including a port of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
