Polish studio Dark Passenger lands $3m funding

Polish game developer Dark Passenger has successfully secured million in funding, a significant boost for the company as it embarks on its inaugural project. Founded by seasoned veterans from CD Projekt, Dark Passenger attracted this investment through a lead from The Games Fund, with additional participation from Blite Fund.

Funding for Ambitious Project

This financial backing will primarily support the development of a third-person multiplayer stealth action game set in the rich historical tapestry of feudal Japan. Dark Passenger’s CEO, Jakub Ben, expressed enthusiasm about the potential within the multiplayer gaming landscape, stating, “While the multiplayer landscape is more exciting than ever, we still see vast untapped potential.” He emphasized the importance of imagination, trust, and vision in realizing their direction, qualities he found embodied in The Games Fund.

Ben further elaborated on the transformative impact of this investment, noting, “This investment is a game-changer for us—it’s helped expand our team and set the foundations for our project, allowing us to focus on production.”

A Vision for Bold Experiences

Ilia Eremeev, co-founder of The Games Fund, echoed this sentiment, highlighting a notable gap in the market for games that embrace risk and deliver bold experiences. “There’s a shortage of games that dare to take risks and deliver bold, unapologetic experiences, leaving players craving that: ‘Hell yeah!’ factor,” he remarked. After witnessing an early demo of Dark Passenger’s work, Eremeev was quick to recognize the studio’s potential, stating, “The quality of the experience, given the team’s size and development time, was astonishing.”

He expressed excitement about aligning with Dark Passenger’s vision, describing it as an “exciting, undiluted power fantasy.” The partnership marks the beginning of an adventurous journey for both Dark Passenger and its investors, setting the stage for what promises to be a captivating addition to the gaming world.
