Production company Lyrical opens new indie publishing arm

Production firm Lyrical Media has embarked on an exciting new journey by launching an indie publishing arm, aptly named Lyrical Games. This innovative venture is under the leadership of Blake Rochkind, who previously served as the business development head at Private Division. The team at Lyrical Games is composed of seasoned professionals, many of whom hail from Private Division, alongside former employees from Devolver, Humble, and Microsoft.

New Projects on the Horizon

Lyrical Games has already signed three promising projects, with details set to be unveiled in the near future. Among these anticipated titles is a game developed by Blackbird Interactive, known for their work on Homeworld 3.

Rochkind emphasizes the philosophy that guides Lyrical Games: “At Lyrical Games, we firmly believe developers are often the best stewards of their own games. In today’s landscape, there has never been more noise, and not every developer necessarily needs a publisher. We built Lyrical Games to be the kind of publisher they want to work with.”

In this evolving industry, the importance of a shared vision between developers and their publishing partners cannot be overstated. Rochkind notes, “It’s never been more important for both developers and their publishing partners to share a clear, holistic vision at the outset—not just for the game itself, but who that audience is and how they can and should be reached.”

Positioning itself within the high-end indie or ‘triple-i’ space, Lyrical Games aims to offer some of the most attractive deal terms available. “We’re not just looking for developers, but for partners who want a meaningful say in all the ways their game will be shown to the world,” Rochkind adds.

With a commitment to collaboration and transparency, Lyrical Games assures that developers will retain ownership of their intellectual property. This approach fosters a partnership model that prioritizes mutual respect and shared goals, setting the stage for a new era in indie publishing.
