Sloclap’s latest release, the 5v5 soccer game Rematch, has made a remarkable debut, attracting nearly 93,000 concurrent players on Steam during its launch day, a noteworthy achievement for a Thursday afternoon. The excitement didn’t stop there; the studio later announced that Rematch welcomed an impressive one million unique players within its first 24 hours of full release. Sloclap shared this milestone on X, expressing their gratitude: “Seeing so many of you jump into Rematch on day one is incredible.” With the weekend approaching, industry observers anticipate that player numbers may continue to rise.
In response to the initial surge of players, Sloclap promptly released a small update aimed at enhancing the game’s stability and performance. This patch addresses crash issues and resolves a desynchronization problem that arose when the ball struck the goalpost. However, the studio acknowledged that some players are still experiencing difficulties and encouraged feedback through replies on X or via a dedicated bug report form.
While the patch improves various aspects of gameplay, it does not yet include crossplay functionality. Sloclap is actively working on this feature but faced “unforeseen technical complexities” that prevented its inclusion at launch. The studio has confirmed that a basic working version of crossplay exists from a technical standpoint, but further implementation and debugging are necessary before it can be rolled out. A timeline for this eagerly awaited feature will be shared in due course.
