Crafting a New RPG Experience
During a conversation with Eurogamer, Williams elaborated on the ambitious project currently underway at Republic Games. The studio is diligently developing an RPG that promises a “rich, interesting story with lots of meaningful choices, branches, and endings.” Williams expressed his enthusiasm for Avellone’s involvement, stating, “Chris has written, created, and designed for some of the greatest RPGs of all time. He’s a master of interactive storytelling. On our list of people to work with, he was at the top.”
Williams further reflected on Avellone’s pivotal role during what many consider the golden age of RPGs, emphasizing the studio’s vision for their upcoming title. “We are creating a dark fantasy story with immersive gameplay and a rich interactive narrative which aims to recapture that magic — and take it to the next level,” he noted. The excitement within the studio is palpable, as Williams declared, “Everybody at the studio is very excited – we’re building a dream team.”
