In a remarkable display of growth, Konami’s video game division has reported a substantial 32 percent increase in revenue for the nine months ending December 2024. This surge can be largely attributed to the successful remake of the iconic Silent Hill 2, which has resonated well with both new players and long-time fans alike.
Financial Highlights
During this period, Konami’s Digital Entertainment segment generated an impressive ¥228.9 billion (approximately .4 billion). The profit for this division soared by 44.6 percent, reaching ¥80.8 billion (around 1 million), surpassing the company’s initial forecast of ¥80 billion for the entire financial year.
Notably, the Digital Entertainment sector now accounts for 73.6 percent of Konami’s total revenue, a significant increase from 68.5 percent in the previous year. This shift underscores the growing importance of video games within the company’s overall business strategy.
Konami highlighted the Silent Hill 2 remake as a key driver of its financial success, revealing that the survival horror game shipped two million copies by January 2025, just a few months after its launch in October 2024. This achievement not only showcases the game’s popularity but also reinforces Konami’s position in the competitive gaming market.
Additionally, the company’s eFootball series continues to make waves, boasting over 800 million downloads, further solidifying Konami’s footprint in the digital gaming landscape.
