Last year, a visit to the Monster Hunter bar in Tokyo left me in awe of the intricate props and meticulously recreated armor sets that adorned the venue. However, the true marvel was the ambitious endeavor of one individual who is crafting a life-sized Seikret for cosplay.

In the weekly column “Character Select,” PC Gamer shines a spotlight on the remarkable artistry and creativity within the gaming community. This week, I am particularly captivated by the work of Trine.k.n, who first shared their journey of creating a Seikret cosplay on Instagram in October 2025. The initial post showcased the painstaking process of pattern-making for the headpiece, featuring a reel that documented the careful foam cutting, gluing, and assembly that would eventually lead to the creation of a stunning Seikret head.
Fast forward to December 2025, and Trine.k.n unveiled a new reel that provided a closer look at the evolution of the life-sized Seikret head. This update was nothing short of breathtaking, revealing a wearable frame that demonstrated the movement and overall feel of the suit. In the video description, Trine.k.n candidly shared the challenges faced during the construction, particularly the need to maintain a lightweight design while ensuring proper weight distribution. The head, equipped with batteries, posed a natural weight challenge, and the creator was careful not to overload the tail, which could compromise the suit’s wearability.
What truly astounded me was the fact that Trine.k.n embarked on this project without any prior experience in crafting such elaborate suits. As I scrolled through the detailed videos, it was easy to assume that their career revolved around creating wearable dinosaur-like costumes. Yet, in the description of the frame-building reel, they humbly noted, “I had never made anything like this before.”
The most recent update showcased the assembly of the neck, body, legs, and arms, with each scale painstakingly soldered into place and painted with precision. At this stage, the Seikret began to come alive, with a moveable head, neck, and jaw that imbued the creation with an almost lifelike quality. Trine.k.n mentioned that the next steps involve adding accessories and feathers, which promise to elevate the project even further, leaving me eager to see the final result.
Watching these reels is nothing short of inspiring. The process appears deceptively simple, sparking thoughts of attempting my own creation. However, I am acutely aware that my efforts would likely fall short, resulting in a Seikret that bears little resemblance to the original vision. For now, it seems prudent to leave such intricate work to the professionals, perhaps starting with a smaller prop to hone my skills along the way.
