Sumo Group Announces Workforce Reduction
UK-based Sumo Group has made the difficult decision to cut approximately 15% of its workforce, affecting around 250 employees. The company cited challenges facing the games industry as the reason for the cost-cutting measures.
In a statement to investors, Sumo Group expressed gratitude for the dedication of its employees over the past 21 years, highlighting their role in establishing the company as a leader in the industry. Despite weathering previous difficulties, Sumo acknowledged the need to restructure operations in anticipation of future challenges.
The company emphasized that every effort is being made to minimize the impact on employees, but unfortunately, job cuts are inevitable. The workforce reduction will be spread across Sumo’s businesses in the UK, Canada, Poland, Czechia, and India.
Sumo Group, which was acquired by Tencent in 2021 for .27 billion, is focused on supporting its remaining employees and collaborating with partners to navigate through this challenging period and emerge stronger for the future.
