Kwalee, in collaboration with developer Digital Mind, has announced the upcoming release of the PC version of the highly anticipated Metroidvania-style side-scrolling action game, The Spirit of the Samurai. Set to launch this fall on both Steam and the Epic Games Store, console versions are expected to follow at a later date.
Game Overview
In The Spirit of the Samurai, players will find themselves immersed in a world where a village is under siege. The narrative centers around Takeshi, a reanimated samurai tasked with defending his homeland from an advancing Oni and his army of undead warriors. Players will engage in combat against a variety of foes, including tengu and the fearsome Jorogumo, all inspired by rich Japanese mythology.
The game invites players to explore a beautifully crafted environment, filled with elements of Japanese folklore. From ruined villages to eerie mountain caves and desolate cemeteries, each location is designed to evoke a sense of wonder and danger. The enemies, ranging from yokai to other undead creatures, are presented in a striking stop-motion style reminiscent of the works of Ray Harryhausen.
