8BitMods Releases VMU Pro for Sega Dreamcast

The Sega Dreamcast was known for its innovative Visual Memory Unit (VMU), which added playable mini games to the gaming experience. Now, 8BitMods has taken this concept to the next level with the release of the VMU Pro.

The VMU Pro is not just a memory card, but also a handheld emulation machine for 8-bit games. It offers full backward compatibility and supports microSD cards up to 2TB, allowing for ample storage. The device features built-in emulators for popular consoles like Game Boy, NES, and Game Gear, with the ability to scale games to fill the backlit IPS color display.

In addition to its gaming capabilities, the VMU Pro can also play original VMU mini games via eVMU. The device boasts a 720mAh battery that lasts up to six hours while emulating games, making it a versatile accessory for Dreamcast enthusiasts.

8BitMods plans to add more features to the VMU Pro over time, including additional emulators and an SDK for users to develop their own apps. The device is available in seven different color options and is currently available for pre-order at a price of .24, with shipping expected in October.
