ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition Heading to iOS and Android
About ten years ago, developer Studio Wildcard had a dream to create a first-person open-world survival game filled with dinosaurs. This dream became a reality with the release of ARK: Survival Evolved in 2015. The game gained a devoted fan base during its Early Access period and was fully released in August 2017.
In a surprising move, ARK was later released on iOS in June, followed by a port to the Nintendo Switch a few months after. Unfortunately, the Switch version faced technical issues due to the hardware limitations. To address this, Studio Wildcard partnered with Grove Street Games to develop a more optimized version called ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition.
The new and improved Switch version was released as a free update to existing owners and received positive reviews. Now, Studio Wildcard and Grove Street Games have announced that ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition will be coming to iOS and Android devices later this year. The game will include all expansions released for the base game, offering a comprehensive experience for players.
Set to launch in “holiday 2024,” the mobile version of ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition will initially include the ARK Island and Scorched Earth expansion, with more expansions to follow throughout 2025. Whether this will be an update to the existing mobile version or a separate release remains unclear, but the prospect of playing ARK on mobile is exciting for fans of the game.
