This week, Crumbl Cookies has ventured into an unexpected yet thrilling collaboration with the beloved video game Minecraft, introducing a rotating menu that features six themed treats. Among these, five cookies showcase various flavors that Crumbl is known for, while one standout item—a cake—takes inspiration from one of Minecraft’s most iconic symbols: the grass block. Naturally, we felt compelled to sample this unique offering and share our thoughts.
A Collaboration Disappointment
Pros — Let’s begin with the positives surrounding the cake. Visually, it successfully captures the essence of the Minecraft grass block, which is no small feat. The cake’s appearance aligns well with the source material, demonstrating that Crumbl’s team made an effort to embody the theme. While the execution may not have reached the heights of intricate artistry, the resemblance is commendable, especially considering the challenges faced by bakers juggling a constantly changing menu.
Cons — However, the cake’s shortcomings are more pronounced. The cream cheese frosting, while a staple in many baked goods, fell short of expectations. Despite Crumbl’s capability to produce delightful cream cheese frosting, this particular version was stiff, grainy, and excessively sweet.
