In the vibrant world of Monster Hunter Wilds, the quest to capture endemic life continues with Samin’s latest challenge: locating the elusive Rime Beetle. This snowy insect, native to the Iceshard Cliffs, is not just a mere specimen; it’s a testament to the rich biodiversity of the Forbidden Lands. Samin, eager to outshine his colleague Dareel, has once again enlisted your help, and while this task may seem daunting, it is, in fact, quite straightforward compared to what lies ahead.

To find a Rime Beetle, head to area 2 of the Iceshard Cliffs, where you’ll spot a distinctive icon on your map—a small blue beetle rolling a snowball. Additional sightings can be made in area 11 and area 13 on the middle level, as well as area 7 and area 8 on the upper level. Essentially, these beetles thrive wherever snow blankets the ground.
As you navigate to area 2, descend to the lower level and keep an eye out for these charming beetles. They may be somewhat camouflaged, often nestled within the snow, but following their tracks can lead you to them. Notably, while they do have an icon for the Hook Slinger, it’s crucial to resist the temptation to use it. Engaging the Hook Slinger will only yield the ammo type they provide and will not contribute to your quest progress.
Instead, utilize the capture net from your essential items hotwheel. By holding the left bumper on your controller, you can select the net using the right stick. The Rime Beetles are not particularly skittish, allowing you to aim with LT, wait for the capture box to turn orange, and then press RT to secure this endemic life. Once you’ve successfully captured a Rime Beetle, make your way back to Samin to complete the quest.
Your efforts will be rewarded with 10 mandragora, five honey, and a tidy sum of 100 Guild Points, making this venture not only enjoyable but also fruitful.
