WinPlay System Being Tested on Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4
Xiaomi has unveiled its WinPlay Engine, a new system that allows Windows PC games to run on its lineup of Android tablets. The company recently shared a teaser on Weibo, the Chinese social media platform, showcasing the capabilities of the WinPlay Engine.
According to Xiaomi, the WinPlay Engine results in only a marginal GPU performance loss of 2.9 percent when playing games. The company is currently in the testing phase and is recruiting volunteer testers in China to try out the engine. The testing program is currently limited to Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro owners.
The Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and offers up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The WinPlay Engine is built on Xiaomi’s HyperCore technology platform, which aims to enhance performance, graphics, network, and security.
Xiaomi introduced HyperCore with its Android 15-based HyperOS 2 in October. The underlying kernel technology platform features a proprietary microarchitecture scheduler that reduces CPU idle time by 19 percent. This results in up to 54.9 percent faster app launch speeds on smartphones by optimizing task cycles and memory latency.
Developed by a team of over 3,000 engineers, HyperCore has been optimized for more than 25,000 scenarios. Xiaomi claims that the WinPlay Engine will support Steam and its library of PC games, although it is unclear if other storefronts like the Epic Games Store and GOG will also be compatible.
