Is Reddit down? Users report problems with app and website
Users of Reddit experienced significant disruptions on November 21, 2024, as many reported difficulties accessing posts in subreddits they had previously visited. The issues began around 2:40 PM, according to Downdetector, which tracks real-time service outages. A wave of complaints flooded in from users across the UK, particularly from major cities such as London, Birmingham, Manchester, and Glasgow.
Nature of the Disruptions
Data from Downdetector indicated that the majority of the reported problems—56%—were linked to the Reddit app, while 31% of users experienced issues with the website. Additionally, 13% of complaints were related to server connection problems.
As the situation unfolded, many Reddit users turned to X (formerly known as Twitter) to seek confirmation of the platform’s status. One user succinctly expressed the collective frustration: “Looks like Reddit is going down again. Anybody else having problems?”

Others echoed similar sentiments, with one user humorously noting, “comes to Twitter to see if Reddit is down or if it’s just my phone.” Another lamented, “Of course Reddit is down when I’m in the middle of a heated post.” The impact of the outage was felt by many, with one user stating, “Reddit being down means my posts are missing out on potential traffic and upvotes and karma; this is literally the worst day of my life.”
The frustration was palpable, as users expressed their discontent with comments like, “Reddit down now? Again?!!” and “REDDIT IS DOWN.” One user even pondered, “I guess Reddit is down. How else am I supposed to waste time looking at cat and guinea pig pictures?”
In response to the growing concerns, the official Reddit Status account on X acknowledged the issue, stating, “Investigating: We are currently investigating a problem with our site.”
