Meta AI Chatbot Launched in India
Meta has finally begun rolling out its artificial intelligence chatbot Meta AI in India. The tech giant announced this on June 24, aiming to scale up its AI offerings in the competitive Indian market. After months of testing with select users in India, which is Meta’s largest market globally with a subscriber base of over a billion across all its apps, Meta AI is now available for use in English across all the company’s app offerings like WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and Facebook. It can also be accessed via the new Meta.ai website.
Earlier, WhatsApp had released an integrated AI feature on its platform, giving select users early access to Meta’s AI chatbot. This feature was available in a limited number of countries, including India, and only in English. Meta AI has also been integrated into the search bar of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger apps.
The chatbot allows users to have conversations, receive recommendations, recipes, and more based on their queries. Users can generate texts, images, and summarize long pieces of text. Meta AI can proofread, edit, translate through languages, and even create images from text in real-time with its Imagine feature. It can also animate existing images, make changes to them, or turn them into GIFs.
Users can activate the assistant in their personal and group chats on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger to seek advice or ask questions. For example, they can ask for recommendations for a group trip or ideas for dinner party recipes, and Meta AI will offer options directly in the chat. On Facebook, users can access Meta AI while scrolling through the main feed and ask for more information about posts they are interested in. Whether it’s about the best time of the year to see the northern lights in Iceland or popular guitar songs to play, Meta AI is there to assist.
