What you need to know

In a significant move towards enhancing user experience in the cryptocurrency space, Coinbase has announced its full integration with Samsung Pay, set to roll out for select users in the U.S. and Canada starting this August. This development promises to streamline the way users engage with their digital currencies, allowing for seamless transactions directly from their mobile devices.

  • With this integration, users will enjoy the convenience of tapping their phones to fulfill their cryptocurrency needs, making transactions quicker and more efficient.
  • Coinbase has indicated plans to broaden access to this feature, aiming to support a larger user base in the near future.

On July 29, Samsung took a bold step into the realm of crypto payments, enabling users to make tangible moves with their digital assets. According to a press release from Coinbase, the integration with Samsung Pay means that users can now purchase cryptocurrency directly from their Galaxy devices. This feature is designed to provide everything users need for their cryptocurrency transactions right within the app.

One of the standout features is the “Tap to Transfer” functionality, which debuted with the Galaxy S25 series. This innovative system allows users to transfer funds simply by bumping their phones against those of friends or family. While this feature supports various third-party digital wallets, it does not require users to have one to complete a transfer.

For those looking to send money, the process is equally straightforward. As long as the recipient possesses a physical debit card equipped with tap-to-pay capabilities, the transfer can be executed seamlessly using the card’s chip. Additionally, users can send money from a distance if they have the recipient’s phone number at hand.

In a related development, Samsung has begun rolling out a feature that allows users to pay for items in installments through its Wallet app. If users have an eligible Visa or Mastercard account, they can break down larger purchases into manageable payments. When making a transaction via Samsung Wallet, users will soon notice an option to “Pay in installments,” enabling them to select a payment plan that best suits their financial needs.
