In a recent discussion on a Reddit forum, it was revealed that the EU is working on a white-label application designed to authenticate the integrity of the age verification app. This initiative is intended to guarantee that the application utilized for age verification is legitimate and secure.
As the new age verification framework will depend on Google Play Integrity for Android app validation, it necessitates that the app be licensed by Google. Users will need to download the application from the Google Play Store, ensuring that all device security protocols are met. However, this requirement raises concerns for users of custom ROMs, as the Play Integrity mandate restricts access solely to apps sourced from the Play Store. Consequently, any sideloaded or self-compiled applications will not pass the integrity check.
