The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recently granted clearance for the Android version of Tandem Diabetes Care’s Tandem Mobi mobile application. This significant development allows users to manage their diabetes seamlessly from a compatible smartphone, expanding the app’s accessibility to Android devices.
Innovative Technology Integration
Tandem Mobi operates on the advanced Control-IQ+ technology, which has demonstrated notable improvements right from the first day of use. This innovative app not only connects securely with the Tandem Mobi insulin pump but also integrates with the Tandem Source platform. This integration facilitates effective communication between healthcare providers and patients, enhancing treatment decision-making.
The Tandem Mobi insulin pump is specifically designed for subcutaneous insulin delivery at both set and variable rates, catering to individuals with diabetes mellitus who require insulin. It is approved for use in patients aged two years and older, ensuring a broad demographic can benefit from its capabilities.
- The pump is compatible with various digital devices, including automated dosing software.
- A limited release of the Android app is scheduled for next month, with commercial availability expected in early 2026.
- Users will be able to download the app from the Google Play Store on compatible devices, including Google Pixel 6 through 10 and Samsung Galaxy S21 through S25.
John Sheridan, CEO and president of Tandem Diabetes Care, expressed enthusiasm about this new development: “We’re excited to bring Tandem Mobi and the best-in-class outcomes of Control-IQ+ to Android users. This latest integration gives Android users access to the life-changing benefits of Control-IQ+ on a system that emphasizes convenience, discretion, and customization.”
In a related advancement, Tandem Diabetes Care announced in June 2025 that its t:slim X2 insulin pump has become compatible with Abbott’s FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus continuous glucose monitoring sensor, further enhancing the ecosystem of diabetes management tools available to patients.
