Fitbit food logging and other new app features start going live

The Fitbit app on Android is undergoing a gradual transformation with the rollout of version 4.66, which introduces several noteworthy features that were previously part of the public preview. Among these enhancements are the much-anticipated food and mood logging capabilities. However, users may find that the update is being deployed in stages, as it has yet to appear on devices like the Google Pixel 10 Pro.

Currently, there is no update available on the Play Store, indicating that many users may not have immediate access to these new features. It is expected that it will take some time before the majority of Fitbit users can fully engage with the latest offerings within the app. It’s important to note that while food logging is not a brand-new feature, it has been revamped. Users can now conveniently log their meals through the newly introduced Gemini coach button located in the bottom right corner of the app’s interface, provided they are part of the public preview. For those using the standard version of the app, food logging remains accessible via the “+” button.

In addition to food logging, the Fitbit 4.66 update also lets you log hydration

Alongside food logging, the Fitbit 4.66 update also enhances hydration tracking. Similar to food logging, this feature is available in the non-public preview version of the app, albeit under the label “log water.” Users will find that the data logging options remain consistent, as evidenced by screenshots shared by 9To5Google. A minor adjustment has been made to the date box, which has been repositioned to the bottom of the page, adjacent to the “custom amount” entry field.

The public preview has also brought about a redesign of the navigation bar at the bottom of the app. While the Today tab continues to be featured, the Coach and You tabs have been replaced with Fitness, Sleep, and Health tabs. The previously existing “+” button has been substituted with the Gemini button, which is now a constant presence across all navigation tabs, rather than being confined to just the Today tab. Additionally, the Health tab has introduced new Focus Areas, including Nutrition and Mental Wellbeing.

As this update is not yet widely accessible, users can anticipate that Google will continue to roll it out over the coming days, enhancing the Fitbit experience for many.
