In a continued effort to enhance user experience, Google has made further adjustments to the Gemini overlay on Android following last month’s significant redesign. The latest update introduces an expanded plus menu, enriching the functionality available to users.
Previously, the Neural Expressive overlay featured just two tools: Images and Personal Intelligence. The recent update broadens this selection to include Videos, Music, Canvas, and Guided Learning. However, it’s important to note that Deep Research remains exclusive to the full app, as this tool necessitates a more extensive prompt box for Sources and Files.
While the top section of the interface, which includes Screen, Photos, Camera, Files, Drive, and Notebooks, remains unchanged, the repositioning of the carousel slightly impacts one-handed usability. Users may find that the new layout, while visually appealing, presents challenges for those accustomed to a different arrangement.
This enhancement allows users to access a majority of the Gemini experience seamlessly across Android devices without needing to launch the full application. This feature was part of the earlier Gemini overlay design introduced earlier this year, although it did not incorporate the initial Neural Expressive revamp.
The rollout of these changes is being implemented with stable version 17.32 of the Google app, marking another step in Google’s commitment to refining its user interface and overall functionality.
