An ongoing issue with Google Maps has recently emerged, leaving users unable to view alternate routes on both mobile applications and car platforms like Android Auto. This functionality, which typically allows drivers to see faster or slower route options highlighted on the map, has been noticeably absent for some time now.
Over the past few weeks, numerous users have taken to Google’s forums and Reddit to express their frustrations regarding this glitch. The problem appears to affect the Google Maps app on mobile devices as well as the Android Auto interface. Our own tests confirm that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, when connected via Android Auto, also fails to display these alternate route suggestions.
The root cause of this disruption remains uncertain. It is likely tied to recent software updates or an issue on Google’s end. While we have not been able to ascertain whether the same problem is impacting Google Maps for CarPlay, reports indicate that some users have experienced lagging issues with the app on that platform.
