Google Play Store could soon fix a major annoyance in managing apps across devices (APK teardown)

The Google Play Store remains a cornerstone of the Android experience, acting as the primary portal for users to download and manage apps across a variety of devices. As technology evolves, so too does the need for streamlined processes, particularly when it comes to app management. In this vein, Google is currently testing an innovative feature that promises to enhance user convenience: an “Uninstall” button directly within individual app listings.

Enhancing Remote App Management

This new functionality aims to simplify the remote uninstallation of apps from various devices linked to a user’s Google account. Currently, the process for uninstalling apps remotely can be somewhat cumbersome. Users must navigate through a series of steps: accessing Manage apps & devices > Manage, filtering for the specific device, and then selecting the apps they wish to remove before finally tapping the Trash icon.

With the introduction of the Uninstall button, users will be able to directly uninstall an app from its listing page, streamlining the process significantly. This enhancement is particularly beneficial for those who manage multiple devices, such as secondary phones, tablets, smartwatches, and even smart TVs, all of which can be accessed through the Play Store.

While the Uninstall button is not yet live, its presence in the code of Google Play Store version 47.7.19-31 indicates that Google is actively working to improve user experience. For those who prefer to uninstall multiple apps at once, the existing method within Manage apps & devices remains a straightforward option.

As we await the rollout of this feature, it’s important to note that APK teardowns can provide insights into potential future updates, though there is no guarantee that every predicted feature will make it to public release.
